IACUC
Training
As
of September 1, 2005, the IACUC has adopted a new procedure for
Principal Investigators and research staff to complete the annual
training required by the Animal Welfare Act and the Public Health
Service Policy.
This
training will make use of an online training website developed by
AALAS. It consists of two general training modules, one for
all investigators and one of special interest to IACUC members,
and individual training modules for a number of research animal
species. Successful completion of a particular module is demonstrated
by achieving a passing score on the Quiz associated with that module.
Upon successful completion of any module, a certificate can be printed
and notification of successful completion is automatically sent
to the IACUC office. In addition, because the training is web-based,
it can be accessed from any location where web access is available.
All
Principal Investigators and all research staff are now required
to successfully complete the following training modules before their
current annual training expires:
- Working With the IACUC
- All training modules related
to the species of animals used in their research
