Advanced Standing

Students may take advanced standing examinations for undergraduate credit at the University of Oklahoma. Advanced standing credit awarded and posted on an Oklahoma college or university transcript will transfer to OU. The University will also accept advanced standing credit from non-Oklahoma institutions as long as it meets the University requirements.
The most common ways to earn advanced standing credit are:
  • The Advanced Placement Program (AP)
  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
  • Excelsior College Examinations
  • International Baccalaureate Program (IB)
  • University of Oklahoma Departmental Advanced Standing Examinations
  • Credit for Military Personnel and Veterans
For a complete guide of advanced standing credit recommendations that are transferable to OUHSC visit the OU website at Credit by Advanced Standing. Credits will be recorded as “S” and count as hours earned but will not affect a cumulative GPA.
