Abstract: Migraine is a common, disabling, chronic, and under-diagnosed condition. Approximately 26 million Americans (13%) are migraine sufferers, with the highest prevalence in midlife women. It is estimated that migraine costs approximately $20 billion annually in the U.S. in direct and indirect costs. Pharmacists are in an excellent position to help improve migraineur outcomes. This program will explore the results of an educational program’s effect on community pharmacists’ care of recurrent headache sufferers, evaluating pharmacists’ self-assessed knowledge, sell-reported care behaviors, and assessing any interaction between the educational intervention with various pharmacist- and pharmacy-specific situational variables. Future endeavors in migraine research will also be discussed.
