The Bystander Effect and Etiology of Colon Cancer

Objectives:             
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:  Describe the role of the intestinal microbiome in initiating and/or promoting colon cancer.  To describe the bystander effect as observed in radiation biology and describe how this phenomenon applies to cancer etiology.  To review major epidemiological risk factors for sporadic colon cancer.
