Technology in Healthcare

The 10th Annual Bridges to Access Conference is a student-led one-day health conference which brings together students from every college at the OUHSC campus and members of the community to learn about and discuss the healthcare issues facing Oklahomans today. This year the conference will take place on Saturday, February 18th at the OU Children’s Hospital Samis Conference Center (located at 1200 Children’s Avenue, OKC, OK).

The conference is organized by the OU Community Health Alliance; an organization of health professional students devoted to improving the healthcare of Oklahoma’s uninsured and underinsured populations through volunteering and education. The conference includes presentations from community leaders, a small group discussion focusing on the health care of Oklahoma, and breakfast and lunch for all participants. As a testament to Bridges to Access' continued growth and reach, this year's conference includes two Keynote Addresses by Dr. Craig H. Blakely, Ph.D., M.P.H., the current Dean of the School of Public Health and Information Sciences at the University of Louiseville, and Dr. Terry Cline, Ph.D., Oklahoma Commissioner of Health.

Our goal is that by the end of the day participants will value the importance of a multi-pronged approach to community-wide health. This approach includes inspiring patients to take action about their health, using technology to identify and track patients in need of health management to prevent disease, incorporating the best practices of inter-professional teamwork and collaboration, and recognizing that in order for patients to be healthy, their community must promote health.
