HOLIDAY
DECORATIONS POLICY
The guidelines
are not intended to discourage employee creativity, but are simply
to ensure the health and safety of everyone.
The following
minimum safety rules shall apply:
All decorations
shall be of materials that will not continue to burn or glow after
being subjected to the flame of an ordinary match. (The normal use
of bulletin boards and posters does not apply to this rule.)
Not Acceptable Decorating Materials:
Natural Christmas Trees
Ordinary crepe paper, tissue paper, confetti or fabrics
Candles, gas-fueled, or liquid-fueled lanterns
Hay, garlands, wreaths, cotton batting or cotton balls, cornstalks,
or leaves
Fast-burning plastic materials
Extension cords exposed to traffic or passing through doorways
Light bulbs in contact with decorations
Acceptable Decorating Materials:
Flame-retardant crepe paper or fabrics
Christmas trees of metal, or self-extinguishing plastic
Aerosol artificial snow (flocking)
UL listed small Italian lights on nonmetallic noncombustible
trees .
Decorations
and displays shall not obstruct equipment, fire extinguishers, doors,
corridors, stairs, landings, hallways, or spaces providing normal
egress.
Do not change
existing fluorescent lights or spotlights for colored bulbs or place
any type of material over lights to change the color.
Do not use
dry ice in any display.
Do not place
any decorations and/or displays in the elevator lobbies, or stairwells.
Do not hang
any decorations from any fire suppression equipment.
Persons erecting
decorations must be responsible for the location, maintenance and
removal of any decorations.
