Material safety data sheets (MSDS) (soon to be called just safety data sheets [SDSs]), are required by law to be provided by manufacturers or vendors of products containing hazardous materials. MSDS/SDS information will include information such as chemical composition, exposure limits, potential health effects, first aid procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, and spill/leak procedures.

MSDSs may be obtained in the following manner:

  1. They may come with your chemical order.
  2. Search the links below.
  3. A collection of MSDSs can be found at the Environmental Health and Safety Office. We have an entire room filled with MSDSs! Contact the EHSO for assistance in obtaining these.
  4. You can get them from the manufacturer or vendor. Here's a few for your reference:

Fisher Scientific Searchable by Fisher Scientific catalog number, CAS number, chemical name or supplier part number.

Malinkrodt/Baker (now Avantor)Search by product number, product name or CAS number. 

Sigma-Aldrich:   Search by product number.
