Material safety data sheets (MSDS) (soon to be called just safety data sheets [SDSs]), are required by law to be provided by manufacturers or vendors of products containing hazardous materials. MSDS/SDS information will include information such as chemical composition, exposure limits, potential health effects, first aid procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, and spill/leak procedures.
MSDSs may be obtained in the following manner:
- They may come with your chemical order.
- Search the links below.
- A collection of MSDSs can be found at the Environmental Health and Safety Office. We have an entire room filled with MSDSs! Contact the EHSO for assistance in obtaining these.
- You can get them from the manufacturer or vendor. Here's a few for your reference:
Fisher Scientific: Searchable by Fisher Scientific catalog number, CAS number, chemical name or supplier part number.
Malinkrodt/Baker (now Avantor): Search by product number, product name or CAS number.
Sigma-Aldrich: Search by product number.
VWR: Searchable website.
