Education

Education is the heart-beat of this Department. The department has an impact at every level of undergraduate and graduate medical education. Entering medical students are paired with health seniors, in order to introduce them to usual aging. Second year students learn some of the pathologic changes in aging through the Adapting to Change program. Third and Fourth year students learn about the care of frail elders from various departmental faculty. Internal medicine and family medicine residents are provided practical exposure to the care of frail elders in multidisciplinary teams. Geriatric medicine fellows develop the expertise necessary to become leaders in the field of aging.
