Diagnosis
In the primary care setting, diagnosis is usually based on the history, physical exam, and basic tests, including
urinalysis, urine C&S, and . Other simple urodynamic tests may also be done in an office setting. It will be possible to classify
most uncomplicated cases into functional, stress, urge, and overflow on this
basis and to begin initial therapy. Because the history of incontinence may not
be volunteered, it is helpful to ask screening questions for older patients routinely.
