Effective Communication
Effective communication in patient care relies on:
- Listening
- Explaining perceptions
- Acknowledging differences and similarities in views
- Recommending appropriate treatment, and
- Negotiating agreement.

In our increasingly diverse workplaces, language and
can exist among members of a team.
Some
degree of cultural competency
must be in place for team members to effectively communicate with each
other as well as with patients and family members.
