Marie A. Bernard, M.D.

Dr. Bernard received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Temple Hospital was the site of her residency training and she served on the faculty in general internal medicine while there. At the VA Medical Center, Dr. Bernard is the associate chief of staff for geriatrics and extended care. She is board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics and holds the endowed Donald W. Reynolds Chair of Geriatric Medicine.

Kyawt K. Ayee, M.D.
Assistant Professor
Dr. Ayee graduated from the Institute of Medicine in Rangoon, Burma, and came to the United States to complete her residency in internal medicine at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She finished a geriatric fellowship at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida, and is board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics. |

John A. Belzer, Ph.D.

Founding Director of Education, Donald W. Reynolds Department of Geriatric Medicine.
Dr. Belzer received his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University, two Master’s degrees from the University of Central Oklahoma, and his Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma.

Bruce A. Carnes, Ph.D.
Associate Professor
Dr. Carnes received a master of science in Population Biology from the University of Houston. He completed a master of arts in Statistics and a doctor of philosophy in Theoretical Ecology from the University of Kansas . Dr. Carnes is an expert in the emerging field of biodemography. His particular research interests are in the areas of mortality, longevity of individuals and the life expectancy of populations. |

Reginald Labossiere, MD
Assistant Professor
Dr. Labossiere is board certified in internal medicine and in geriatric medicine. He practices at the OUHSC Senior Health Center, the Veterans Affairs, and the community-based Epworth Villas.

Germaine L. Odenheimer, M.D.
Associate Professor
Dr. Odenheimer completed her medical degree at the Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport. She moved to the University of Florida for her residency in neurology and a fellowship in geriatric medicine. She is board certified in neurology and has specialized expertise in cognitive impairment and driving.

Saleem Qureshi, M.D., M.H.S.A.
Assistant Professor
Dr. Qureshi completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Virginia Roanoke-Salem, followed by a year as Chief Medical Resident and Junior Faculty. In 2007, he completed a geriatrics fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He is board certified in internal medicine and board eligible in geriatric medicine. Dr. Qureshi is director of our Acute Care in the Elderly Team. |

Karen M. Ross, M.D.
Assistant Professor
Dr. Ross received her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center followed by an Internal Medicine residency at University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics. She returned to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center to finish a Geriatric fellowship. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. |

Banu Sezginsoy, M.D.
Assistant Professor
Dr. Sezginsoy earned her medical degree from Cukurova University School of Medicine, Adana , Turkey. McLaren Regional Medical Center at Michigan State University, Flint, was the location for her residency in Internal Medicine. She completed a Geriatric fellowship at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu. Dr. Sezginsoy is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics as well as certified in Home Care Medicine. At the VA Hospital, Dr. Sezginsoy is the medical director for the Extended Care Unit (a rehabilitation program).

William E. Sonntag, Ph.D.
Professor
Dr. Sonntag completed his doctorate at Tulane University. His research interests focus on molecular endocrinology and neuroendocrinology. Dr. Sonntag leads the aging-related basic science research program of the Department of Geriatric Medicine and the Reynolds Oklahoma Center on Aging.

Kristen H. Sorocco, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor
Dr. Sorocco completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a certificate in Gerontology from Oklahoma State University . She continued her academic pursuits with a NIAAA postdoctoral fellowship from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She has research interests in caregiver issues and clinical geropsychology. |

David O. Staats, M.D.

Dr. Staats obtained his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and pursued his residency in Internal Medicine at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center Chicago. The Oregon Health Sciences University was the site of his two-year Geriatric fellowship training. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. He is director of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship on the OUHSC campus.

Dr. Struck graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas and completed his internal medicine residency training there followed by a two-year geriatric fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics.
