Fellowship Program Goals
The Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is designed to train leaders in the field of geriatrics. The first year is accredited through the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is designed to provide Internal Medicine or Family Medicine trained physicians a 12-month clinical training program, sufficient to sit for the certification examination in geriatrics.
The overall goals of the program are to:
- Prepare physicians to be leaders in the field of geriatrics.
- Provide fellows with the opportunity to improve their communication skills with patients, families, and professional colleagues.
- Provide opportunities for fellows to develop clinical competence in the overall field of geriatric medicine.
- Facilitate the fellows' ability to keep current with the scientific knowledge of their specialty.
