Small Grants Program

Overview

The Reynolds Oklahoma Center on Aging funds intramural grants to support the expansion of scientific research programs at the University of Oklahoma (Norman and OUHSC campuses) and Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.  It is expected that the studies will be designed to gather the preliminary data necessary to compete for funding at the National Institute on Aging or other granting agencies.  Any areas of research that address basic mechanisms of aging or age-related disease are eligible, however, those applications related to brain aging, neurodegeneration or sarcopenia will be given special consideration.  Proposals that address translational issues related to these topics are also encouraged. The Center expects to fund four grants annually at the $40,000 level for a period of 12 months though 2010. Successful applicants will be expected to attend seminars sponsored by the Center on Aging, interact with other grantees and members of the center and submit progress reports at six month intervals.
