Employment Opportunities

The Reynolds Oklahoma Center on Aging at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) invites applications for two (2) tenure-track endowed faculty positions with rank commensurate with qualifications. The positions are part of the on-going expansion of the Reynolds Oklahoma Center on Aging (the Research Division of the Department of Geriatric Medicine). The Department of Geriatric Medicine is one of only five in the entire country and this is a unique opportunity to work in a concentrated collaborative environment that is solely dedicated to understanding the aging process and age-related diseases. Exceptional candidates at any level are encouraged to apply.

Candidates for appointment must show evidence of productive research accomplishments, and NIH or NSF funding is required. Successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain a fully independent basic science research program addressing fundamental questions in any area that is directly or indirectly related to aging and form productive interactions with colleagues and other scientists at the OUHSC campus. Potential areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, regulation of autophagy, protein ubiquitination, oxidative stress/damage, vascular and cognitive function as well as neurodegenerative conditions such as stroke and Alzheimer's Disease. Individuals with expertise in stroke models and assessment or learning and memory using animal models are especially encouraged to apply.

The endowed positions include a highly competitive salary, start-up packages, ample laboratory space and a $2M endowment. Cross-appointments in other basic science departments at OUHSC are available. Additional local funding is available on a competitive basis through the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology, the Presbyterian Health Foundation and NIH-sponsored institutional grants. OUHSC maintains outstanding Core Facilities that support confocal imaging, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry and gene chip technology (Affymetrix) for expression profiling and genetic analysis.
