CITI Training Course
All key research personnel are required to take the CITI Training course.
Key research personnel include:
1. Faculty
2. Staff
3. Graduate students (working on a thesis or dissertation)
4. Anyone using data for purposes of independent research
5. Faculty sponsors
6. Persons receiving grant monies for human subject research
7. Those personnel with management responsibilities
Only key research personnel should be listed on the initial application.

Please note that the CITI Training is a mandatory requirement to be done on an annual basis. The refresher course can be taken from year two forward.
Once you have completed the CITI Training, proof of completion will be sent directly to the IRB Director. A copy of your certificate will be mailed to you from the OU-NC IRB office.
Completion of an OUNC-IRB Application
If you have completed the required CITI Training Course, you may proceed to the OUNC-IRB Application.
1. Please remember that you must attach your most recent IRB course completion certificate to each application submitted.
2. Also, please complete the application in its entirety. If an area in the application does not apply, please enter “n/a”.
3. At least one copy of the IRB application should include original signatures.

If you have not completed the required CITI Training Course, DO NOT submit an OUNC-IRB Application. Your application will not be considered until you have completed the CITI Training and can provide a copy of the course completion certificate.
