Tribally based registered dietitians have created teaching methods that allow the participant to identify foods that are considered more healthy.  Physical activity professionals assist the camper in highlighting way that physical activity can be increased during the normal day, with the basis of why physical activity must be improved.  Behavioral health professionals have helped the student address the underlying emotions and stress of obesity and diabetes.  In addition to this medical officers such as Registered nurses, Physician assistants and medical doctors help the student tie all aspects of diabetes prevention together through a comprehensive application course.  As NYPD grew it became apparent that the needs of the Native American children were not fully being met, to this end, a cultural awareness class was added to help add the needed dimension of the Native American social unit as a force within diabetes prevention.
