We are excited to offer the Linking Gerontology and Geriatrics Online Community Course, Elder Abuse, Care, and Resilience. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Karen Roberto ofVirginia Polytechnic Institute and State University who speaks on Understanding Elder Abuse: Causes, Consequences, and Care Solutions. Other speakers addressthese themes: (a) forms of and trends associated with elder abuse, (b) how to recognize elder abuse, and (c) what can be done to protect older abuse from abuse, maltreatment, and neglect.On balance, Dr. Rosemary Blieszner provides a special session on resilience and psychological well-being of older adults.

November 2014: Congratulations to Marie Bernard, MD for receiving the Donald P. Kent award from the Gerontological Society of America.
Dr. Bernard is the founding chairman of the Donald W. Reynolds Department of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. In October 2008, she relocated to Washington DC and became the deputy director of the National Institute on Aging where her service to older adults has expanded.
