Women's Cancers Research Program

Researchers in the Women's Cancers Research Program are nationally recognized for their leadership in the fight to understand, prevent and treat gynecological cancers. The Program's groundbreaking research is yielding new insights into the development, growth and spread of these devastating cancers. And, its innovative clinical trials have offered hope to women from across Oklahoma and beyond.

The Women's Cancers Program, co-directed by Joan Walker, MD, and Doris Benbrook, PhD (above, left), has three main areas of research:

• Developing Anti-Angiogenic Therapies and Identifying Angiogenesis Biomarkers
• Determining Roles of Glycoproteins in Metastasis
• Targeting HPV to Prevent Cervical Cancer

Program members include clinicians who actively develop and participate in clinical trials with translational research components and basic scientists who have active research programs integrated into the translational research.
