Translational Research with Animal Tumor Models

Research Description

Pancreatic cancer and bladder cancer are devastating illnesses. Improved therapies for these two forms of cancer are desperately needed. An integrated group of scientists and clinicians are working with animal models and human tissue to identify the critical steps in the development of pancreatic cancer, the role of inflammation in the etiology of pancreatic cancer and the development of biomarkers for the early detection of pancreatic cancer. A second group of scientist and clinicians are studying bladder cancer. They are focusing on the interaction between tumors and cell matrix, the role of inflammation in cancer development and drug discovery for bladder cancer therapy.
