|ITP..runs in my family..I am 71 years old have been cronic for years..about 30 thousand, do not treat and live a normal life inspite of a heart attack and copd.
23 year old grandaughter had two acute episodes, platelets dropped to 1 thousand...at 7 & 13, was hospitalized both times, platlets returned to normal after treatment.
Recently discovered grandmother's infant baby died in 1909 of what appears to be ITP.

|Had a good friend who developed TTP and was dead in 2 weeks, had not obvious illness, thought he had gotten the flu, had history of late diagnosed Lymes disease, had recently started taking Chantix to quit smoking. Is there any corelation as to what would cause or contribute to the development of this disease and is there any new developments in the treament of the disease besided chemo and plasmaphoresis.
