Creating a Safe Environment

A fire safety person, in the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Police Department, provides awareness training sessions at mandated hazard communication classes, and upon request. Evacuation drills are also carried out, at various times, to familiarize building occupants with emergency evacuation procedures.

Due to the close proximity of various clinics and hospitals on campus, emergency medical services are provided by Oklahoma City EMSA, and EMT personnel attached to Oklahoma City Fire Department.

The OU HSC Police Department does not routinely transport patients to, or from, medical institutions/facilities.

The Emergency Management Office provides a Weather Line, 271-6499. The weather line is updated during the threat of severe weather.

Facilities Maintenance (Site Support phone 271-2121) Engineers are available, and on call, 24 hours a day to react to safety-related maintenance and repair problems within campus buildings. After hours maintenance emergencies, between the hours of 5PM and 8AM, Monday through Friday, and on holidays and weekends, the OU HSC Police (271-4911), will contact required maintenance personnel.
