Vascular Surgery

Patients with vascular diseases who require operative intervention account for one of the largest segments of the general surgery experience during the residency. During the resident's vascular surgery rotation, they will manage patients with disease processes affecting arteries and veins to gain a better understanding of vascular disease. This includes lower extremity arterial reconstruction for diabetic feet, particularly among the state's Native American population, and endovascular stent grafts for abdominal aortic aneurysms. To gain experience in the Non-Invasive Vascular Lab residents rotate on the Vascular Medicine/Surgery Service for a month during the second year of residency.
