Supported Families was written by Dr. Judy Berry, a partner of the Center for Learning and Leadership, Oklahoma’s University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, and a parent of an adult with disabilities who died just before the book was printed. Dr. Berry is faculty and the Chair of the Department of Psychology at The University of Tulsa. 

Supported Families uses families’ stories to highlight the Oklahoma Individual and Family Support Principles. The principles were developed by the Oklahoma Family Support Partnership Council to guide family support policies and programs. Each of the nine principles is featured in the book with an accompanying story about a family’s experience that illustrates the principle.
