Brightspace by D2L Special Request Forms

COURSE SITE AUTOMATION

Academic Technology has moved to an automated course creation process utilizing data from PeopleSoft beginning with Summer 2022 courses. Faculty and staff no longer need to submit a course request form to have a Brightspace course created for the classes they are teaching. Courses marked active in PeopleSoft will appear in Brightspace in a more automated fashion.

The change was effective March 22, 2022.  Faculty should see Summer 2022 courses in their Course Selector and My Courses widget now as long as your department has listed you as the primary instructor in PeopleSoft.  This step must be performed by your department/college.

Information about all of these changes has been shared with your Brightspace contacts in colleges and those that work with PeopleSoft in your colleges and departments. It was also announced in Academic Technology news in the fall and most recently in the March 2022 edition which can be found inside Brightspace under Brightspace Help>Academic Technology News.

Changes to How the Classlist Updates
Student enrollment into Brightspace courses will now begin the day after a student is enrolled via Peoplesoft.  Enrollment updates run overnight to add/drop students as needed.

Staff/Course Managers Accessing Courses Now
If you are a staff assistant or course manager/coordinator and need to be added to courses, please submit a request for help and include the course information from PeopleSoft so we can add you to the course.

Combine Course Request (Multiple Sections in One Course)

Combine Course Request

Are you teaching multiple sections of the same course or a cross-listed set of courses and wish to only have one Brightspace course to administer?  The form linked below will be used for single course combine requests by course managers/faculty/etc.  Each course combine request needs to be a separate form as this will allow us to process them correctly.

If your program/department/colleges will have many combine requests, please use this Bulk Course Combine Request spreadsheet (will download to your computer automatically), fill out the spreadsheet as shown in the examples, and send the completed spreadsheet to web-courses@ouhsc.edu to be processed.  If you have questions, please let us know!

Annual Course Request (Used Throughout Multiple Semesters)

Annual Course Request

Do you have a course that you wish to have combined over multiple semesters such as clinical rotations?  Each annual combine request needs to be a separate form as this will allow us to process them in order.

Copy Course Request (Old Course Copied Into New)

Copy Course Request

Do you have content in a previous course you would like copied into another course shell?

Please only copy course content if you are going to be reusing it for the next semester.  There is no need to copy course content if you are not going to reuse it. You can always access your old courses for that material.  Copying content that is not going to be used in the next class can confuse students and can create an unorganized look and feel of your content area in Brightspace.  If you have questions about copying content - whether you should or shouldn't, please reach out to our office at web-courses@ouhsc.edu.

To copy content from one course to another, you can find instructions for this quick and simple process by viewing the linked documentation (opens in new window).

Community Course Request (Non-Standard Collaboration Site)

Community Course Request

Do you need a Brightspace course for a non-course related purpose such as a "Class of" type course or a project or other non-standard course needs?  Unlike traditional courses, leaders requesting a community site are responsible for adding users into the community and maintaining current user listings each year.  Community leaders are also expected to maintain (current and accurate information) and monitor all community postings and member activities on the site for appropriate use.

Development Course Request (Test and Create Future Content)

Development Course Request

Faculty and staff may request a development course for many reasons. Some include:

  • Practice creating course items or trying something new within Brightspace
  • Build a new course that is being taught in the future
  • Rework existing content, but not altering an official course
