The NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA Molecules (NIH Guidelines) requires OUHSC to provide appropriate training for Principal Investigators (PIs) and laboratory staff regarding laboratory biosafety and implementation of the NIH Guidelines. Moreover, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) require training for persons working with infectious materials and toxins.
The IBC will require that all personnel identified on any submitted IBC protocol be current for those training courses which apply to the research described on the protocol (training is required annually). The IBC will hold those IBC protocols until such time as the identified personnel become current.
