Reactive astrocytes in smear, HE stain: The two large cells with stellate shaped cytoplasmic processes are reactive astrocytes. Reactive astrocytes do not usually have prominent nucleoli. The small elongated cell (arrow) may represent a microglial cells. The naked small round nuclei in this photo are most likely nuclei of astrocytes or oligodendrocytes.
