Vice Provost for Academic Affairs & Faculty Development

Education at OUHSC

The OU Health Sciences Center's academic strategic plan builds upon the expertise and strategic aims of our health professions and biomedical sciences academic programs to offer HSC students a distinctive learning experience only available at Oklahoma’s only comprehensive academic health center.  Academic faculty and staff engage with learners as teachers and as mentors. HSC faculty invest in developing skills for best practice in six areas of core mentoring recommended by the National Institutes of Health. As innovators and leaders in team-based health care, team science, and evidence-based clinical care that includes the patient as a member of the health care team, OUHSC developed and continues to grow interdisciplinary and interprofessional learning opportunities for HSC students. Learn more about OUHSC interdisciplinary programs at: https://ipe.ouhsc.edu/.  Opportunities for learning and leadership enable OUHSC students to earn credentials that give them added expertise as they enter postgraduate training or the health care workforce.

OU Health Sciences Center teachers and mentors invest in our students developing expertise and hands-on skills and we continue to review and develop education program offerings at the cutting edge of learning and practice in the health professions and biomedical sciences.  The education-focused achievements of OU Health Sciences Center faculty are recognized each year through prestigious institutional and national awards. OUHSC continues to grow its ranks of top researchers who also teach and mentor undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate trainees for careers in biosciences. We are proud to say that every OUHSC graduate enters a field that contributes to the future well-being of people living in Oklahoma and across the Nation.
