David L. Boren Professorship

Chittur Sivaram, MD, Department of Medicine, College of Medicine

Dr. Chittur A. Sivaram has served the OU Health community for the past 32 years. He is a clinician-educator recognized for his commitment to teaching locally at OU through several prestigious awards from medical students, internal medicine residents, cardiology fellows, the Provost, OU Regents and OU President. He is currently a David Ross Boyd Professor. Nationally, his teaching has received recognition from the American College of Cardiology (Gifted Educator Award and Master of American College of Cardiology designation), American Heart Association (Laennec Master Clinician Award) and American College of

Physicians (Master of American College of Physician designation). His credits in educational innovation and scholarship include the development of national competency standards for cardiology fellowship training and leading the novel ABIM-ACC cardiology-IM Pilot.

LaTasha Craig, MD, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, College of Medicine

Since joining the University of Oklahoma in 2006, Dr. LaTasha Craig has shaped generations of physicians through her passion for teaching, mentorship, and curriculum innovation. Every OU medical graduate over the past 18 years has benefited from her leadership, whether in the classroom, clinical training, or national education initiatives. As Assistant Dean for Clinical Curriculum, she guided the clinical curriculum through COVID-19 and a flawless LCME accreditation, while mentoring countless students and residents whose research has earned national recognition. She has earned numerous teaching awards and has been recognized annually by medical students for her outstanding teaching. Dr. Craig embodies the values of curiosity, excellence, and educational service that define the David Ross Boyd Professorship.

George Lynn Cross Research Professorship

 

R. Hal Scofield, MD, Internal Medicine, College of Medicine

Dr. Scofield, an internationally recognized physician-scientist, has spent his career studying autoimmune diseases. He has more than 375 published papers with reports that range from genetic to environmental studies of autoimmune disease. His research is always novel and demonstrates creative thinking. He has mentored a large number of students, many of whom have advanced to distinguished careers. Dr. Scofield has served in multiple local and government leadership positions, including grant and medical review boards, and is highly sought after speaker in his field. As a teacher, Dr. Scofield is particularly admired for his love of medical history and his ability to present it to students so that they remember it.

Presidential Professorship

Lisa Moon, MD, Obstetrics & Gynecology, College of Medicine

Dr. Lisa Moon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob/Gyn), and the only Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (PAG) specialist in Oklahoma. She has built the entire proBram for PAG at OU from the ground up, including robust clinical practice, research and mentorship in the field for medical students and residents, and development of a substantial educational portfolio including didactic lectures and clinical teaching across multiple specialties and disciplines. As one of the core educational faculty for the Ob/Gyn residents, she has developed and implemented the PAG curriculum. Her recent research has focused on diagnosis and management of complex congenital uterine anomalies. Nationally, she is recognized for her work in the field and was recently elected to the executive board for her professional organization.


Jad Kebbe, MD, Internal Medicine, College of Medicine

Dr. Jad Kebbe, Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus, founded and directs the Interstitial Lung Diseases Program. He oversees multiple phase II-III trials for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and related conditions, securing nearly $2 million in funding. Honored with the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award and voted 2021’s Outstanding Faculty Teacher, he was also a Provost Teaching Award nominee. Dr. Kebbe mentors dozens of residents, fellows, and junior faculty, fostering collaborations that yielded over 30 peer-reviewed publications. He serves on key university committees, contributes to national societies, and engages the public through media interviews and community lung-health outreach. His blend of clinical excellence, scholarly productivity, and devoted mentorship embodies the ideals of the Presidential Professorship.


Wei Yue, PhD, Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy

Dr. Wei Yue is a leading pharmaceutical scientist recognized internationally for uncovering mechanisms regulating drug transport. She received -3M funding including 4 NIH awards, authored publications (28 with mentees) and 63 presentations (49 with mentees), resulting in 158 trainee authorships. Publications from her laboratories, first-authored by mentees, have been cited in guidance endorsed by the U.S. FDA and regulatory agencies worldwide. She teaches and coordinates PharmD and PhD courses and developed a new PhD course. Her teaching excellence is recognized with the Provost Teaching Award, Regents' Award for Superior Teaching, and the ASPET Faculty Scholars. As Chair of the AAPS Drug Transporter Community and a Steering Committee member of the lnternational Transporter Consortium, she provides scientific leadership advancing pharmaceutical sciences and representing OUH globally.


Michael Anderson, Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Hudson College of Public Health

As a biostatistician, teacher, and mentor, I have a passion for creating discovery moments for my students and mentees using active learning. These efforts resonate with students leading to an increased desire to learn statistical topics and strong performance on course evaluations. I mentor students to serve as first authors on “Statistics Explained” articles in the Journal of Pediatrics, where mentoring becomes scholarship. My Bayesian modeling research integrates graduate students and translates directly to patient care, as shown by a predictive model for intra-ventricular hemorrhage in very preterm infants that achieves exceptional accuracy. As Unit Director of the OSCTR’s Design and Computational Resources, and as PI/Co-I on pediatric and infectious disease projects, I merge rigorous statistical methodologies with real world data to achieve deep quality of life impact.


Joshua Gentges, DO, Emergency Medicine, School of Community Medicine

Joshua Gentges, DO, MPH, is a Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, School of Community Medicine (SCM). He is an award-winning educator who teaches, writes, and researches with medical students, residents, and faculty. He is Emergency Medicine’s Research Director, Medical Director for the Simulation Center at OU-Tulsa, Patient Safety Medical Director for OU Health Physicians-Tulsa, the SCM Learning Communities Leader, and a Course Director. As a coach and mentor, Dr. Gentges has nurtured the development of students into exceptional faculty educators. He is currently developing and implementing Professional Identity Formation for medical students in the Frontiers in Medicine curriculum transformation.

Superior Teaching

Wendy Galbraith, PharmD, Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy

Wendy Galbraith, PharmD, FAPhA, BCNP, is recognized for transforming nuclear pharmacy education at OU Health Center through curricular innovation, sustained teaching excellence, and impactful mentorship. Her leadership in designing NRC-compliant nuclear pharmacy curricula, developing experiential learning partnerships, and pioneering interdisciplinary rotations has positioned OU as the top choice for advanced nuclear pharmacy training. Dr. Galbraith’s passion is evident in student feedback, outstanding evaluation scores, and high rates of ANP credentialing among graduates. Her commitment to interprofessional engagement, patient centered education, and continuous improvement exemplifies the standard for superior teaching. Now the OU College of Pharmacy is recognized as a top five College for Authorized Nuclear Pharmacist (ANP) training in the nation. Since 2007, 88 students have completed ANP credentialing concurrently with their Doctor of Pharmacy program.


Mary Moon, PhD, Cell Biology, College of Medicine

Mary B. Moon, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Cell Biology at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus, where she directs anatomy courses for medical, dental, and physician associate students. She serves as Site Director for the ILAC Biomedical Education PhD program and Anatomy & Embryology Thread Director in the College of Medicine. Dr. Moon has received multiple honors for teaching excellence, including the Aesculapian Award and the Dewayne Andrews Excellence in Teaching Award. Her scholarship focuses on curriculum design, medical education research, and student well-being, with several funded projects and peer-reviewed publications. She is also committed to mentorship, guiding students and colleagues across disciplines while contributing to institutional and state leadership that advances anatomy education.


Shashank Shettar, MD, Anesthesiology, College of Medicine

Dr. Shashank S. Shettar is an award-winning anesthesiologist and educator whose career embodies excellence in teaching, leadership, and innovation.  Since joining the University of Oklahoma in 2018, he has received six institutional teaching awards and national recognition for advancing education in anesthesiology.  He directs the Transplant Anesthesia Division, co-chairs the Case-Based Learning curriculum for the College of Medicine, serves as one of only two ABA Board Examiners in his department.  As co-chair of Mentoring & Scholarship Subcommittee of Academy of Teaching Scholars, he fosters faculty development & mentorship across disciplines.  Teaching learners from medical school applicants to practicing physicians with consistent record of excellence reflect his unwavering obsession for teaching & lifelong commitment to education with a genuine dedication to nurturing every level of learner.

Superior Research and Creative/Scholarly Activity

Ying Zhang, MD, PhD, Biostatistics and Epidemiology, College of Public Health

Dr. Ying Zhang has dedicated 26 years of her career to studying cardiometabolic diseases in Native communities. Collaborating with tribal partners in Arizona, North and South Dakotas, and Oklahoma, and researchers across the country, she leads the largest and longest-running epidemiological study of cardiovascular diseases in American Indians. She is well-funded, highly productive in scientific publications, and effective in disseminating research findings. Dr. Zhang hopes that the publications generated from the Strong Heart Study will inform health policy and medical care to help alleviate disease burden in tribal communities. Grateful for the guidance she has received from her mentors, she is committed to paying it forward by mentoring students and junior investigators to conduct research in tribal communities through trust-building and mutually respectful relationships.

Regents' Professorship

H. Anne Pereira, PhD, Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy

Dr. Anne Pereira served as the Dean of the Graduate College at the University of Oklahoma Health campus and is the David L Boren Professor and Henry Zarrow Presidential Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Pereira received her PhD in Pathology from the University of Melbourne in Australia and joined the OU Health campus in 1992. Her research focuses on the development of therapeutics for tackling antibiotic resistance. She has a longstanding record of federal and national funding and has the distinction of being named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the National Academy of Inventors. Dr. Pereira is the holder of over 50 US and foreign patents and is the Co-founder of Biolytx, an OU spin-off company.

Research - Junior/Senior Faculty (Basic Sciences Research)

Sreemathi Logan, PhD, Biochemistry & Physiology, College of Medicine 

Dr. Sreemathi “Sree” Logan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Physiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus. She is an internationally recognized investigator in brain aging and geroscience, with a research program focused on understanding how mitochondrial dysfunction, astrocyte metabolism, and cellular senescence drive cognitive decline and resilience during aging.

Dr. Logan received her PhD with highest honors and completed advanced postdoctoral training in geroscience and healthy brain aging before establishing an independent, NIH-funded research program. She has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, including PNAS Nexus, Aging Cell, Journal of Neuroscience, and GeroScience, and her work has significantly advanced our understanding of cognitive heterogeneity in aging.

She has been highly successful in securing competitive extramural funding, including a NIH K99/R00 career transition award, a recently funded NIH R01, and a prestigious Hevolution/AFAR New Investigator Award. In addition, Dr. Logan serves as Director of the Animal Model Development and Behavioral Analysis Core for the NIH-funded Geroscience CoBRE, where her innovations have strengthened research infrastructure and collaboration across the institution.

Dr. Logan is also a dedicated mentor and scientific leader. She has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Aging Association and was recently elected President of the American Aging Association for the 2028 Annual Conference, a role that reflects her national stature and leadership in the field. Through her research, mentorship, and service, Dr. Logan has brought significant national visibility to the University of Oklahoma Health Campus and represents the next generation of leaders in aging research.

 

Augen A. Pioszak, PhD, Biochemistry & Physiology, College of Medicine 

Dr. Pioszak is a biochemist with a research program centered on defining the signaling mechanisms of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are cell surface proteins that control most aspects of human physiology and are important drug targets. His research seeks to advance our molecular understanding of GPCR function and to leverage the knowledge from these studies to guide the design of new therapeutics. He uses biochemical, pharmacological, structural, and drug development approaches in his research. He has over 25 years of experience studying signaling proteins, including graduate studies at the University of Michigan and postdoctoral studies at the RIKEN institute in Japan and the Van Andel Research Institute in Michigan. He started his independent lab at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2010, where he has studied a family of signaling peptides known as the CGRP family peptides that signal through GPCRs. These peptides and their receptors are drug targets for migraine headache, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disorders. Dr. Pioszak’s studies, which have been continuously funded by NIH since 2012, revealed fundamental insights into how the CGRP family peptides bind and signal through their receptors.  He engineered and patented several long-acting peptide variants and is working with collaborators to assess their value as therapeutics.

 

Research - Junior/Senior Faculty (Clinical/Translational Research)

Abdul Rafeh Naqash, MD, Internal Medicine, College of Medicine

Dr. Abdul Rafeh Naqash is an early-career medical oncologist, clinical trialist, and translational researcher specializing in immuno-oncology and early-phase drug development. He is an Assistant Professor and Director of Immuno-Oncology at the Stephenson Cancer Center (SCC), University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where he serves as principal investigator on multiple NCI- and industry-sponsored Phase I/II trials. Following oncology fellowship training, he completed a two-year Phase I developmental therapeutics fellowship at the National Cancer Institute.

Dr. Naqash’s research integrates bedside-to-bench and back-to-bedside approaches to advance biomarker-driven combination therapies, with particular emphasis on lung cancer and rare solid tumors. His pioneering work in alveolar soft part sarcoma, including studies of the ASPSCR1::TFE3 fusion, contributed to the FDA approval of atezolizumab and has been published in The New England Journal of Medicine. Beyond research, he has led institutional frameworks for managing immune-related toxicities, launched multidisciplinary cardio-oncology and pulmonary toxicity clinics, and spearheaded AI- and machine learning–based initiatives to improve clinical trial matching and equity. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and is a committed mentor and leader in translational cancer research.


 

Darla Kendzor, PhD, Family and Preventive Medicine, College of Medicine

Dr. Darla E. Kendzor is a Professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine and Co-Director of the TSET Health Promotion Research Center at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston and completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Her research focuses on reducing cancer risk and health disparities through tobacco cessation, mHealth interventions, and behavioral clinical trials. She has maintained continuous NIH and ACS funding for more than 15 years and has authored nearly 200 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Kendzor also holds several major leadership roles, including Associate Director for Cancer Prevention and Control at the NCI-Designated Stephenson Cancer Center, and she is nationally recognized for her service on NIH study sections, scientific advisory boards, and invited presentations.

Teaching - Early Career Faculty

Paul Boylan, PharmD, Pharmacy Clinical & Administrative Science, College of Pharmacy

Paul Boylan is an Associate Professor in the College of Pharmacy and a candidate for the 2025 Provost’s Early Career Faculty Teaching Award. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy in 2014. Following graduation, he practiced as a community pharmacist before completing two years of accredited postgraduate training at Reading Hospital and Nova Southeastern University. He has been Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy since 2017.

Dr. Boylan has held his current appointment for 18 months. Prior to this role, he served as an Assistant Professor at Larkin University College of Pharmacy from 2017 to 2020 and at the OUHSC College of Pharmacy from 2020 to 2024. In his current position, he delivers and coordinates approximately 90 hours of didactic and laboratory instruction, precepts student pharmacists and residents in clinical settings, and maintains an active clinical practice focused on transitions of care at OU Health OU Medical Center.

His scholarly work includes more than thirty peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and abstracts. He has received national recognition for excellence in teaching from the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. He is also pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Science through the OUHSC Graduate College and is currently in his third year of study.

In addition to his teaching, clinical, and scholarly responsibilities, Dr. Boylan contributes to service at the college, university, and medical center levels. He is an active member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the National Transitions of Care Coalition, where he serves as chair of multiple interprofessional committees.

Andrei B. Belousov, PhD, Biochemistry & Physiology, College of Medicine

Dr. Andrei B. Belousov serves as Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Biochemistry and Physiology at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biology and Physiology, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Kazan State University, and completed his Ph.D. in Neurophysiology at Moscow State University in 1992. Following postdoctoral fellowships at McGill and Stanford Universities, he held faculty appointments at Tulane University and the University of Kansas Medical Center before joining OUHSC in 2019. With more than 20 years of academic service, Dr. Belousov is widely recognized for his dedication to teaching excellence. His student-centered approach combines scientific rigor with creativity, humor, and personal connection. Known for making complex physiological concepts engaging and accessible, he creates inclusive learning environments where curiosity and critical thinking flourish. His lectures often feature musical brain breaks, his personal scientific research insights, and clinical case studies that promote collaborative learning. Dr. Belousov has developed and led courses across undergraduate, graduate, and medical programs, earning consistent praise for his clarity and innovation. His contributions have been honored with multiple awards, including the 2024 Dewayne Andrews MD Excellence in Teaching Award and the 2024 Excellence in Teaching Award from the College of Medicine.  As Vice Chair and active member of curriculum and examination committees, he continues to shape medical and professional education. Guided by the belief that teaching is a reciprocal journey of learning and inspiration, Dr. Belousov remains a lifelong student himself. He actively engages in educational research and curriculum development, continually refining his approach to meet the evolving needs of future healthcare professionals. Through his passion, precision, and deep respect for the learning process, he continues to shape and inspire the next generation of scientists and physicians.

University Distinguished Teaching Award

Bradford Gildon, MA, RT(R), Radiography, College of Allied Health

Bradford W. Gildon, MA, BSRT, RT(R), is an Associate Professor and Program Director of Radiography at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus.  A dedicated educator, he integrates problem-based learning, reflective practice, and positive psychology to foster critical thinking, resilience, and leadership in future imaging professionals.  He pioneered the use of 3D printing in Allied Health education, co-founding the OUHSC 3D Printing Lab and leading innovative, interprofessional teaching initiatives recognized nationally.  His scholarship includes peer-reviewed publications and over 20 invited national presentations within radiologic science education.  Professor Gildon is also a committed mentor, guiding students to national awards, graduate programs, and leadership roles in professional societies, reflecting his deep and sustained impact on the profession.

 

Lori McElroy, Degree Completion Track Coordinator, College of Nursing

Dr. Lori McElroy, DNP, RN, CNE, is an experienced nurse educator with over 23 years of teaching excellence at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing. Certified as a Nurse Educator since 2007, she has taught across all undergraduate nursing tracks and led curriculum innovations including concept-based design and trauma-informed education. Dr. McElroy received the national American Association of Colleges of Nursing, Novice Faculty Excellence in Didactic Teaching Award and has been honored with the College of Nursing’s Faculty Excellence in Service and the Leadership and Mentorship Award. Her role as course coordinator and mentor has fostered high-performing teaching teams and student success. Through compassionate instruction and academic leadership, Dr. McElroy continues to elevate nursing education and inspire future professionals.

Mark J. Fisher, PhD, RN

Mark J. Fisher, PhD, RN, CNE is an Assistant Professor in the Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). He has a multilayered business background along with over two decades of higher education experience where he conducts active learning activities, lectures, facilitates and debriefs clinical-focused simulations, and guides learners in the in-patient clinical setting. He serves as faculty with several graduate and undergraduate nursing and interdisciplinary education courses or programs on the OUHSC campus. He has delivered over 90 presentations focused primarily on communication in healthcare at the international, national, regional, and local levels.
