OPERATOR
911, what is your emergency?

SURVIVOR: Please send someone. I was attacked, he tried to rape me. Please hurry!

OPERATOR
Is your attacker still there?

SURVIVOR
No, no he's gone. He ran away.

OPERATOR
Where are you calling from?

SURVIVOR
I'm calling from my cell phone. Please, just please send someone.

OPERATOR
Yes ma'am I'll send someone. What is you name and your location.

SURVIVOR
Oh, god, my name is Kristi Berg, and I'm on Front Street by the bookstore.

OPERATOR
Okay, Kristi, I'm dispatching officers to your location. Are you injured?

SURVIVOR
No, yes, I don't know. Just please send someone, hurry!

OPERATOR
Okay, stay calm and stay where you are. I'll stay on the line with you until an officer arrives. Are you still with me? Kristi?

SURVIVOR
Yeah. Yeah, I'm still here.

OPERATOR
Okay, you're doing great and I'm right here with you. Listen for sirens. Do you hear sirens yet?

SURVIVOR
(coughs) Yeah, I can hear them.

OPERATOR
Okay, hang on, those sirens are for you. I've sent two officers and an ambulance. Do you see them yet?

SURVIVOR
Yeah I can see them. They're here! Thank you so much. Thank you.

OPERATOR
Okay. Okay, you've been very brave today, and you're in good hands now.

SURVIVOR
Thank you, just thank you so much...(muffled sounds fade away)

EXT. CAMPUS COMMON GROUNDS ANGLE ON CHRISTIANA (ALT. STUDENT UNION)

CHRISTIANA
You may have heard that if someone really, really wants to break into your home - that they will find a way? It's true. And sometimes, despite all of the precautions that you've taken, you may be attacked or sexually assaulted. But, know this:

ADD CG 'act quickly to defend against assault'

CHRISTIANA
Studies have shown that women who act quickly and assertively are more likely to avoid being raped than women who choose to plead with their attackers.

ADD CG '16% of sexual attacks involved weapons'

CHRISTIANA
And, in 16% of rapes, the offender used a weapon. This means that 84% of the time, there is no weapon, and threats or coercion are used instead. But you can do something to prevent becoming one of the statistics. You can arm yourself with knowledge - and you can fight back.

BROLL - students walking on campus CHRISTIANA ON CAMERA - WALKING BEHIND AN OBJECT (PARK BENCH?)

CHRISTIANA
A common sense defense strategy is to keep something between you...

ADD CG 'use objects as barriers'

CHRISTIANA (CONT'D)
...and the potential attacker. If you are grabbed - hang on to a large object for dear life. It's never easy to get a kicking and screaming person through a doorway, but it is really hard if they're holding on to a shopping cart, a bicycle or a park bench.

ADD CG 'Scream - kick - yell'

CHRISTIANA (CONT'D)
If mnemonics help you, try this one: S-K-Y, SKY for scream...kick...yell. You'll also want to think ahead about how dirty you would be willing to fight. This could mean bite a tongue, poke an eye, throw up or unrinate. And feel free to lie!

CHRISTIANA (CONT'D)
Tell him you have herpes, or are HIV positive, or your brother's a cop. Whatever you do - don't let your attacker take you to a second location.

...because most people that go to another crime location don't come back alive. You want to do everything that you can to prevent yourself from being taken to another location.

If you're ever forced into the trunk of your vehicle, it would be good to know whether or not your vehicle has a...

Run away yelling fire and breaking windows, doing whatever you need to do, to draw attention to yourself.

RODNIE WILLIAMS (V.O.)
If your vehicle's an older vehicle it may not have a trunk latch in it and you may consider getting one installed in there, but at the minimum you should hide a flash light and a crowbar or some sort of a small bat in your vehicle, to have access to it, so when the individual does come and open up the trunk that you would be able to use that to defend yourself. to have access to it, so when the individual does come and open up the trunk that you would be able to use that to defend yourself.

RODNIE WILLIAMS (CONT'D)
And finally, one of the other things that you can do, when you're driving down the road, if you're able to would be to knock the taillights out of your vehicles, to try to draw some attention to yourself and your situation.

CHRISTIANA ON CAMERA
We've all seen the newspapers with terrible stories about campus shooters. A campus shooter is unlikely, but it could happen anywhere. Here's what you should do...

INT. CAMPUS SHOOTER SCENARIO – DAY Quick cuts between a shooter walking in a hallway, students diving for cover in confusion, and campus public safety responding. Shots are heard.

CHRISTIANA (V.O.)
If you hear shots fired on campus, you should exit the building or area right away - but only if you know where the shooter is coming from and that you can leave safely. Chaos in "The Dive" Students are panicking and screaming at each other. Girl calls her mom.

CHRISTIANA (V.O.) (CONT'D)
Instead of calling a friend or a parent - your first call should be campus public safety, the local police, or 9-1-1. If your college or university has a mass notification system, make sure you are enrolled in it. If you are trapped by the shooter, you will have to decide whether to stay still and play dead, or attack the shooter, or run.

ON CAMERA RODNIE WILLIAMS
...and I tell people, when you're running away from somebody, particularly if they have some sort of a weapon, try to run in a zigzag line, don't run in a straight line, cause it would make it harder for them to actually shoot at you and hit you.

CHRISTIANA (CONT'D)
Some people feel safer if they've been trained in martial arts. Remember that most attackers do not carry a weapon, so thinking quickly and getting away even faster would be a good strategy. An even better one is to not put yourself in a compromising situation in the first place. We want you to stay safe, and get everything out of college that you hoped you would.
