On March 21, a group of University of Oklahoma medical students learned their future in one moment. These students joined thousands of others across the country as they learned, on the same day, where they will be doing their residency program. Across the OU College of Medicine in Oklahoma City and the OU School of Community Medicine in Tulsa, the university had 152 students who matched into residency programs, with 44% staying in Oklahoma for their training.

The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry held its 44th Annual Scientific Day on Thursday, March 27. This event offers dental and dental hygiene students and residents the opportunity to present the culmination of their research projects. Faculty and area dentists and hygienists also attended, allowing students and residents to network and meet future colleagues.

The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is pleased to announce that Mark W. Perdue, PhD, PA-C, has been appointed as the new director of the Physician Associate (PA) program at its Oklahoma City location, effective April 14.

University of Oklahoma researchers are working to understand why cancer screening and early detection rates are significantly lower in Oklahoma and are taking steps to reverse those numbers.

Over the past year, researchers at the University of Oklahoma have earned approximately $8 million in National Institutes of Health funding to study multiple smoking cessation approaches, including the use of mobile health technologies. The researchers are part of the TSET Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC), a program of OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center.
